Giada Palmieri

My name is Giada, and I’m currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Bologna.

I did my PhD at the Institute for Language Sciences of Utrecht University, under the supervision of Yoad Winter & Joost Zwarts. My PhD research focused on reciprocal verbs, as part of the ERC project ‘Forests and Trees: the Formal Semantics of Collective Categorization’.
Before that, I got my MA in Linguistics from Utrecht University (2018) and my BA in Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Bologna (2016).

My research interests lie in theoretical linguistics, particularly in cross-linguistic semantics. I'm interested in plurality-related phenomena, valency-changing operations and - more broadly - in argument structure, (lexical) semantic universals, and in the interaction between formal linguistics and typology (and how they can support one another).

My first name is pronounced ['dʒa:da], or ['ʒa:ða] in my native Central Italian variety. My pronouns are she/her.

My full CV is here; to get in touch, you can drop me an email here.
